Miner Family Wines & BottleRock Napa Valley
The People
Dave Miner is a regular guy who is involved with many extraordinary endeavors. He finds success in the software industry, then his uncle’s Napa Valley wine business. In 1996 he becomes proprietor and founder at his own Miner Family Winery. With his brand, he returns to his long held musical passions by starting a strategic partnership and winemaker dinner concert series with Benedetto Guitars. Staying busy, he has been a major sponsor of the hugely successful BottleRock Napa Valley event, and has been since the inaugural event. Dave is business savvy, knows how to have a good time, but also has knack for creating highly recognizable and memorable wines.
The Wine
Perched above Silverado Trail in Napa Valley’s Oakville appellation, Miner Family Winery is built in a beautiful building with a stunning view. As a lifelong lover and collector of wine, Dave was a natural in the wine industry. Gary Brookman, a former Joseph Phelps alum, joined as winemaker in 1997 and is the perfect candidate to handle the Miner wine portfolio, as well as expand their custom crush clients. By 2004, Dave and Gary release the first rendition of their flagship wine, The Oracle, which was a mythical place of revelation and inspiration in ancient Greece. It is a perfectly balanced, and richly textured Bordeaux blend grown high above the Napa Valley at Stagecoach Vineyard in the eastern Vaca Mountains.
The Music
Before he was indulged in the splendors of wine, Dave was introduced to the romance and beauty of jazz guitar. This passion for music led him to a natural and symbiotic combination of the two branches in his life. In 2003, master guitar craftsman Robert Benedetto was commissioned to build Dave the first of many custom guitars, which was stained with Miner Cabernet Sauvignon and features the Miner wings with a grapevine inlay motif in abalone and mother-of-pearl; now known as the original Vinodetto. Soon after, Dave and Robert collaborated again to create a wine called the Benedetto Series Cabernet Sauvignon. Continuing the personal and professional friendship, Dave invested in the flagship store and workshop of Benedetto Guitars and still serves on the company’s board of directors in Savannah, Georgia. Once a year, the winery transforms into an amphitheater for an evening of Miner Family wine, fine food, and jazz. These concerts have featured many well known and famous jazz musicians.
BottleRock
In 2015 BottleRock Napa Valley will ring in its’ third year, and once again Dave Miner will be there in full support. Held May 29-31 this year, BottleRock has continued to gain steam and has some big headliners like Robert Plant, No Doubt, and Imagine Dragons coming to town. The event features the dozens of musical acts alongside the best local restaurants and wineries. Over 100,000 attendees will enjoy the three-day festival dedicated to music, food, wine and brew as they fill up hotels and campgrounds in Napa and neighboring towns. We can “Make it happen” with everything from tickets and transport, as well as lodging and dinners after the event. Let us handle the details so you can rock out at BottleRock!
